It states that smaller practices are having difficulty not only with implementing security technology to protect patient data but with implementing plans and selecting personnel to manage HIPAA compliance at their practice. The article also provides data that explains that small practices find it difficult to make their systems HIPAA-compliant and also have difficulty in finding information on how to prepare for such audits. Within the article, there are also steps to prepare for a HIPAA audit and insight in case your practice is one chosen for a HIPAA desk audit as you are allowed 10 days to prepare and send the requested documentation to OCR.
